Join our team as a Development Summer Intern and play a vital role in advancing causes that make a difference. We are looking for a highly driven individual to join our development team. As a Development Intern, you will provide the Bearing Tree team and our partner organizations with critical backend support that empowers everyone to do their best work.
You must be curious, entrepreneurial, self-accountable, and solutions driven. Additionally, you are passionate about the work of our partner organizations and are committed to doing everything you can to help them be successful.
This internship will report to Amberlee Burrows, our Development & Salesforce Director.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Get to Do:
Be a Salesforce Champion: Help manage and maintain Salesforce systems for our partners, ensuring donor records are accurate, up-to-date, and impactful.
Create Tools for Success: Develop clear, user-friendly guides and training materials that empower our partners to maximize their Salesforce experience.
Uncover Fundraising Opportunities: Conduct deep-dive research to identify potential donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors, fueling our mission with new opportunities.
Master the Details That Matter: Assist with essential processes like handling caging, deposits, and issuing tax receipts, ensuring everything is seamless and compliant.
Engage and Inspire Donors: Contribute to the creation, preparation, and distribution of engaging development mailings that resonate with supporters.
Collaborate on Big Ideas: Work alongside a passionate development team on special initiatives and projects designed to enhance our fundraising operations.

A willingness to learn about fundraising principles and strategies.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
The ability to learn how to operate and use a CRM system.
Basic understanding of foundations and grants.

Location
The Development Internship is based in our Chicago office and an in-office role.
