About the Role

We are looking for a highly driven individual to join our Finance & Accounting team. As an Accounting & Payroll Manager, you will provide the Bearing Tree team and our partner organizations with critical backend support that empowers everyone to do their best work. You must be curious, entrepreneurial, self-accountable, and solutions-driven. Additionally, you are passionate about the work of our partner organizations and are committed to doing everything you can to help them be successful.

Responsibilities

General Responsibilities 

  • Oversee Accounts Payable function
  • Manage cash balances, bill approvals, and wire transfers
  • Manage invoice routing software and final approvals
  • Manage and maintain online credit card platform and approvals, including regular reconciliations
  • Assist in generating ad hoc reports as requested
  • Assist with new client onboarding work
  • Serve as a designated client point of contact providing financial analysis and support as requested
  • Help maintain the Chart of Accounts (COA) and update records as needed

Payroll Responsibilities

  • Manage our payroll invoicing process with our client organizations
  • Complete biweekly payroll reconciliation
  • Manage Workers’ Compensation policies, regular reporting including annual audit reviews, and any claims processing
  • Manage and maintain state and unemployment and withholding tax accounts, including filing and paying quarterly UI wage reports

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial operations
  • 3-5 years of experience in an accounting role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Experience with Netsuite is preferred, though not necessary
  • Experience with expense management platforms is preferred, though not necessary
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and a commitment to building relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with financial information
  • Quick learner with a willingness to take on new tasks and responsibilities.

Location

The position will be based in Chicago, IL.

Hybrid work environment with a minimum of 3 days in-office each week.

The salary range for this position is $75,000 – $100,000 dependent on experience and qualifications.
