Before joining Bearing Tree, Scott was the Vice President of Philanthropy at the Media Research Center, working with the CEO to provide organizational vision and direction, while re-envision the mission of MRC to ensure its continued relevance as traditional media gives way to social media platforms. Previously Scott was the Vice President of Development at the Georgia Center for Opportunity in Atlanta, and previously the Vice President of Development at the Family Foundation of Virginia. Scott also worked at the Mercatus Center and Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University.
Scott has an extensive background in politics. He has served as Chairman of the Fauquier County Republican Party, worked for Governor Bill Owens and Lt. Governor Jane Norton of Colorado, and served as Political Director of the Colorado Republican Party.
Scott earned a master’s degree in international commerce and policy from George Mason University after graduating from Youngstown State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
In his free time, Scott is an avid beekeeper and encourages everyone to take up the hobby. Aside from corralling honeybees, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife and four children camping, visiting historical sites, and attending festivals (much to their chagrin.)
